Jaime Navarro, the pitching coach of the Rattlers in 2008, has been named as the bullpen coach of the Seattle Mariners. Navarro had been the pitching coach of the Tacoma Rainiers last season.
Speaking of Tacoma…There was this note in the story linked above about former Timber Rattlers manager Daren Brown, who took over as interim manager of the M’s after Don Wakamatsu was fired.
[Seattle General Manager Jack] Zduriencik said that Daren Brown, who finished last year as the Mariners’ interim manager, has accepted an invitation to return to his previous job as Tacoma manager. Alonzo Powell, who became the M’s hitting coach under Brown, is also slated to return to Tacoma as hitting coach, Zduriencik said.
