A couple of defensive highlights:

• Jimmy Nelson with one “bad” inning.  Three straight singles that weren’t hit hard – but hit to the right spot – to load the bases in the third inning.  A fielder’s choice, a wild pitch, and a sac fly and it’s 3-0.
• Unfortunately, that was more than enough.
• You can take or leave the quality start stat (6IP, with three or fewer earned runs allowed).  BUT, that is the fourth straight quality start by a Rattlers, um, starting pitcher.  The Rattlers have lost all four of those games.
• One other note on Jimmy Nelson: Six innings = 18 outs.  There were three strikeouts,  a caught stealing, and an outfield assist.  The ground out to fly out ratio on the other 13 outs was 11:2.  This is where that ‘fastball with heavy sink’ part of the scouting report comes in to play and looks very, very accurate.
• In the four game losing streak, the offense has scored three runs and collected 15 hits.
• The scoreless streak for the offense is at 18-1/3 innings.
• That being said, it’s not like the four pitchers the Rattlers have faced in these four games are the 1962 Mets. Siegrist is now 3-0 with a 0.50ERA. Hassebrock has allowed one unearned run in 16 innings this season.  Brown is 3-0 with a 1.06ERA.  Soliman has only given up two runs in 10-2/3 innings this season.
• Tyler Roberts, the Good: Another runner thrown out.  He is 6-for-10 in throwing out runners this season.
• Tyler Roberts, the Needs Work: Another passed ball.  He has been charged with five this season.
• In a bit of déjá vu, the tarp just went on the field.
• The following rovers/coordinators are in town from the Brewers: Charlie Greene (Field Coordinator/Catching Instructor), Reggie Washington (Outfield and Base Running Instructor), Bill Castro (Pitching advisor), and Lee Tunnell (Pitching Coordinator)
• I think the players are going to be getting a lot of early work tomorrow…weather permitting.
