Final score

Wisconsin 4, @Quad Cities 3
Boxscore | Game Story

In honor of 18 strikeouts by the Rattlers pitchers today:

  • Yes. 18 Ks. Don’t act all surprised
  • Also, don’t act all surprised that the bullpen held the lead. The talent is there.  I could do without the tying run being on third with less than two outs almost every inning, but 1-2-3 innings in close games are boring radio.  Right?
  • I know that I have been known to make a typo or two, but when at least three people start questioning how 6 strikeouts in 1.2IP is even possible…I just find the lack of faith disturbing
  • It didn’t seem like that many K’s until right around when Cravy got the second one in the seventh inning to get out of that inning.  Well. It didn’t.
  • Walker, Timber Rattler with another home run.  That’s five. As mentioned on twitter.  The four cities that make up the Quad Cities are: Michael, IL; Walker, IL; Mike, IA; & Walker, IA
  • Welcome back, Chris Dennis. A homer in the first to put the score at 3-0.
  • I am not sure what the long term plan is for Chris Dennis. He was on the DL. There is a spot in Wisconsin. He’s here now.  Go for it.
  • By the way, that was homer #23 for Dennis in his Timber Rattlers career. Four in 2009, 18 in 2010, and 1 this season
  • The Timber Rattlers record for homers in a career is held by Juan Silvestre. He had 35 (15 in 1998 & 21 in 1999)
  • Can someone, please check my math? I think that the last time the Rattlers had back-to-back home runs was this game – July 6, 2008.  In that game, Ron Garth and Joe Dunigan hit consecutive homers in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie Beloit. It HAS to have happened since, but I can’t find it.
  • Chicks dig the strikeouts tonight, I guess. Totals: Ross: 9; Stosh: 1; Krestalude: 1; Cravy: 6; Holle: 1
  • Oh, and the final play of today’s game: Longmire stepped up as the last chance for the River Bandits with the tying run still at first and he appeared to have grounded a single to center. Second baseman Nick Shaw ranged into shallow center and made a backhand stop. Then, without pause, Shaw flipped the ball from his glove to shortstop Carlos George at second base. George made a barehanded catch for the force out at second and the Rattlers held on for the win.
  • Truth be told, I was hoping for a strikeout to end the game…BUT THAT WAS AWESOME!
  • If they get to 19 strikeouts, I can’t wait to break out a cool Steely Dan song…well…all Steely Dan songs are cool…but this one would fit with 19.
  • The pitchers in the Rattlers bullpen has proved themselves in the first two games of this series. First, Britt and Bashara yesterday. Today, just about everyone else.
  • The thing that I really liked today was the way that Cravy went in there and picked up Garman.  That is a team.
  • It has been a couple of long days for the team.  Travel day and no time to relax after the bus ride until almost 10pm last night.  Up and out the door at 8:30am for an 11am game.  Finally, some well-earned rest for the team.
  • Nice job, guys.

I Tweeted it, but I’ll post it…NICE call on Skid Row!

Is it just me or is there a little more giddy-up in these post after a W?🙂

I certainly welcome Dennis back for howerever long it may be…I just (selfishly) don’t want it to be at the expense of ABs for Cody Hawn…who’s heating up nicely.

Great win…let’s make it 3 Tuesday!
