Postgame thoughts (May 6, 2011)
Final score from Friday:
Rattlers 4 @Snappers 3
Boxscore | Game Story
- Yes. That is the broadcast booth at Pohlman Field
- I don’t mind it so much because one of my favorite shows when I was a young aspiring broadcaster was The Rockford Files.
- I think I’ve figured out the Greg Holle savings plan: Get out of a jam in the eighth inning and count on a spectacular defensive play in the bottom of the ninth to close out the game. Must be a Horned Frog thing.
- Congratulations to Tom Keeling! Picked up his first professional win yesterday.
- I seem to recall a comment about the Rattlers being too aggressive on the basepaths before they went on the road.
- I only bring it up because Romero scored the tying run from second on a bunt single by George and Walker scored the go ahead run on a contact play with a slow chopper to second.
- 4-2 road trip! Whoooooo! Winning road trip!
- Jimmy Nelson had a couple of comments on twitter after the game that makes you want to pull for him: Had no command today but the team did a good job picking me up and getting the W. & Kudos to Holle, keeling, Reggie, and hopkins.
- Honesty in analyzing your own game is a positive. Just like throwing strikes and getting groundballs.
- Yes. Hopkins. He put on one heck of a Brooks Robinson display. There was a first inning error on a tough hop, but…WOW! he made some plays.
- I hope they don’t BUT…will MWL teams ever learn to NOT run on the Rattlers outfielders? 11 outfield assists. WOW!
- Still working on the highlights from that last game in Beloit. Hope to have them cut up soon.
- Rattlers are home for six games starting today. Five night games and a day game. You know who is most excited about that? The coaching staff. Expect a lot of early work starting on Monday.
