Postgame Thoughts (September 2, 2011)

Turning two

Burlington 7, Wisconsin 2
Boxscore | Game Story

  • TJ Mittelstaedt with his 12th home run of the season for the Rattlers  He hit it out just to the right of the batter’s eye in center.  That would be just over 403′ from home plate
  • I can’t believe that the blooper to right off the bat of Landaeta dropped in fair in the sixth.
  • Nelson made a pretty good pitch, but…ugh…That’s baseball
  • From there…it escalated
  • From a 2-1 lead for the Rattlers with two outs and none on in the top of the sixth to four straight hits and three runs for a 4-2 lead for the Bees.
  • Rafael Neda left the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.  He took a pitch or a foul tip off his throwing hand in the inning.  A couple of pitches later a runner tried a steal.  Neda’s throw skipped off the mound.
  • That is all the information I know.  We’ll see how this pans out over the final few games of the season.
  • The Rattlers offense had one hit after the fourth inning.
  • Now, we are on the bus ride up to Beloit with Bull Durham on the screens…which leads to these questions:
  • Why weren’t The Smithereens a bigger deal?  Is Bull Durham the only movie to use them in on the soundtrack?
