Manager’s report from Advanced Instructional League (#4)

Timber Rattlers manager Matt Erickson checks in from Arizona with the Advanced Instructional League action from Tuesday.

In the game, the team of Brewers/Mariners prospects defeated a team of Reds/Indians 7-5.  To the bulletpoints!

  • The offense was a little slow getting started
  • 1 run on 2 hits thru 6 innings.
  • However, a solo HR in the 7th and a 5 run 8th helped the Brewers/Mariners get a come from behind win today in Goodyear, AZ
  • In the 5th, Morris leadoff the inning with a single, advanced to 2b on a HBP, went to 3b on a Mittelstaedt walk, and scored on a sac fly to cut into a 3-1 lead.
  • The late game charge started with a solo HR in the 7th, and was capped off with a 5 run 8th inning.
  • Rivera walked and scored on a bases clearing double.
  • Morris also added a 2 out RBI single for the Brewers in the inning.
  • Defensive report:
  • The Mariners pitching staff allowed 5 runs on 10 hits.
  • Walla misplayed a single in RF that allowed an extra base.
  • However, he made a great catch on a sinking line drive with a runner at 3b that saved a run.
  • Vucinich made a sweet play bare handing a slow roller for a 5-3.
  • Mittelstaedt made a nice power feed to 2nd base to start a 4-6-3 DP that ended the ballgame.
