Brock’s big day
The IBAF World Cup continues today, but there was some big news involving a former Timber Rattler yesterday.
Brock Kjeldgaard of the 2009 Timber Rattlers bashed Canada to a win over the United States. The 6-1 win by Canada has pushed the US on the brink of elimination.
Brock Kjeldgaard put Canada en route to the win with a three-run homerun in the second. He later added a RBI double to cap a three-run ninth, providing some insurance.
Brock took a page out of that other Brock’s book.
Also, that writeup from the IBAF website seems a bit, um, dry. But, the Baseball Canada, from where the above picture of Brock was taken, mostly focuses on the performance of starting pitcher Shawn Hill.
After that win, Canada was 6-1 in seven games and is on to the next round. Kjeldgaard is 6-f0r-24 (.250) with 3 doubles, a homer, 3 runs, 6 RBI, and 10 walks. He has struck out 12 times in seven games.
If I understand the website, the US needs to beat Panama…..PANAMA!…today to advance to the next round.
As of this posting, the US is up 5-0 in the 7th. Follow the rest of the game on GameTracker.
