Scotty hit .277 in 135 games for the Cougars during 1997. He became a Brewer for the 2003 season and finished second in the NL Rookie of the Year Award voting (behind Dontrelle Willis).
Levrault went 3-10 in 24 starts for the Snappers in 1997.
He pitched in the big leagues for the Brewers in 2000 and 2001 and for Florida in 2003.
It’s here he rushes near every afternoon, coaching the town’s middle school baseball team through 14-odd games in the regional Massasoit League. Mike Friar — father of varsity players Nick and Jake — stepped down last summer, and district athletic director Gail Silvia was approaching desperation for a replacement when she ran into Levrault in March at Westport’s playoff basketball game in Boston.
Hearing her former student had been laid off from a job as a welder, she told him about the opening.
“His eyes lit up,” Silvia said.
“I’ve been wanting to coach, just haven’t had the time,” said Levrault, a member of Westport High’s athletic hall of fame and its first baseball player to have his number retired. “I make time now.”
Opening Day, 2012 is April 5. Get here soon!
