July 22, 2012 Highlights

Lugnuts 7
Rattlers 5
Boxscore | Game Story

Who scheduled the flyover?

Gotta be quick because I have a few other things going on tonight, but a couple of quick points before the highlights:

Don’t be too surprised that the Lugnuts scored a runner from first on that two out single in the first.  It was a perfect storm.  The runner was going on contact with two outs. The ball was hit to the gap.  Stang cut it off to hold the runner at first, but Hawkins, the runner from first never stopped running and scored.  I’m sure MiLB.TV will have that highlight available tomorrow.  Watch for it.

Mark Williams deserved a much better fate on Sunday.  The bloop hit by Schaeffer to score a run in the second maybe got twenty feet into the outfield.  The Andy Fermin RBI double in the third was a broken bat bloop down the right field that was a really good pitch by Williams.  But, Fermin got the job done.

Nick Ramirez with an opposite field home run.  It was his eleventh home run of the year.  Ben McMahan with a drive to left for his ninth home run of the season.

Chadwin Stang with an eight game hitting streak after a ground rule double in the sixth.  It’s his longest hitting streak of the season.

Brandon Macias with his 93rd hit and 60th run scored for the Rattlers today. Stang has 92 hits and 62 runs scored.

I was not surprised that the tying run got to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning for the Timber Rattlers…Never give up, never surrender.
