1994 Foxes Home Game #29 – June 10
A folder was found during the renovations of Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Inside this folder, an era of Appleton Professional Baseball was rediscovered. The original scoresheets and boxscores from home games of the first half of the 1994 Foxes season. This was the time of Alex Rodriguez, Raul Ibanez, and many other future major league ball players.
Rattler Radio will look back at each of these games from 1994 between now and Opening Day, 2013. Enjoy.
In game #28, the Foxes lost to the River Bandits. They lost big to the River Bandits. Tim Harikkala will take the mound in this game to stop the two game losing streak at Goodland Field.

Five batters into the game, the River Bandits were up 2-0. A single and a hit batsman started the inning. A single by Tim Forkner loaded the bases with no outs. Harikkala limited the damage by only letting in runs on consecutive sacrifice flies by RJ Bowers and Richard Hidalgo.
Harikkala allowed three more hits in the game after that single by Forkner. Heck, he didn’t let another Quad Cities player past second base as he tossed a complete game.
But, could the Foxes offense come back for the win?
Well, they had no luck against Alberto Blanco in the first four innings. Then, the bottom of the order got the rally started in the bottom of the fifth.
It started with a leadoff homer by Scott Smith. Manny Patel drew a one out walk. Then, Mike Barger singled, and Jesus Marquez walked to load the bases with one out. Blanco was taken out of the game in favor of Eddie Lewis at that point.
Lewis walked Giomar Guevara to force in Patel with the tying run. That brought up Alex Rodriguez with the bases loaded. Double to left! Three runs score! Foxes up 5-2. A-Rod would steal third base and score when Eddie Ramos booted a Delwyn Young grounder to first. Foxes score six runs in the inning and are up 6-2.
That’s all she wrote.
The rest of the game featured a two-out triple by Barger in the sixth Rodriguez with another double and another swipe of third base in the seventh. But, that was it for the Foxes’ offense. We have already touched on the lack of offense by the River Bandits since the first inning.
FOXES PLAYER OF THE GAME:
Tim Harikkala: 9IP, 5H, 2R, BB, 6K, CG, WIN
The victory snapped a two game home losing streak for the Foxes.
Appleton goes on the road for four games after this win. They will be in West Michigan from June 11-14. The Foxes get back to Goodland Field to wrap up the first half of the season on June 15 for the first game of a four game series with Clinton. You won’t need to wait four days for the next Foxes home game from 1994. We’ll have Tim Harikkala back on the mound for that June 15 game tomorrow on Rattler Radio.
The win in game #29 gave the Foxes an 18-11 home record to this point of the season.
