A great disturbance – Postgame post for June 8, 2013
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened. – Obi-Wan Kenobi
The first inning was…wow. I saw it. I wrote about it. I am still not sure what else I can say about it.
By The Numbers: Three Errors, One Walk, Three Hits, Four Runs. Each error was more perplexing than the last. After the third error, Matt Erickson went out to the mound and pulled the infield in for a pep talk. It’s the second time he has done that this season. The details are in the game story.
Jorge Lopez? HDABF. 6IP, 7H, 5R, 2ER. He Deserved A Better Fate than picking up his fifth loss of the season.
Make of this bit of data what you will. The Timber Rattlers had a runner in scoring position with two outs in every inning except the fourth. They went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and two-outs. The reason for the 0-for-9 instead of an 0-for-8 was a Clinton error with two outs that let in a run in the eighth.
The Rattlers loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the eighth. They scored their runs on a Fielder’s Choice, a dropped popup, and a balk.
Runs were out there for the Timber Rattlers. They just need that one extra hit.
Tyrone Taylor tripled and his hitting streak has reached seven games.
Adam Giacalone had two hits and extended his hitting streak to nine games
Mike Garza homered and extended his hitting streak to seven games.
Taylor reached base seven straight times until he was retired in the sevnth inning.
Garza has an extra base hit in his last three games (two triples and a homer)
Day game tomorrow. A New Hope tomorrow.
