Jerseys of the Rattlers – BP Tops of 2004 through 2009
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have worn many jerseys since 1995. There have been throwbacks, pinks, camouflage, batting practice, sleeveless, the regular ones that were worn for most games, and a few that you may have forgotten. This feature is to take a look at those jerseys.
This week I thought it would be a nice idea to look at a jersey worn by players over several seasons instead of a jersey that was worn just once or on just one day of the week.
The featured jersey this week is the Batting Practice Jerseys worn by the team from 2004 through 2009.
Batting practice jerseys are, by the very definition, jerseys that are to be worn during batting practice. However, that does not stop teams from deciding to wear those jerseys during games. Sometimes, a team will wear the BP tops for a game when they don’t take batting practice to save on laundry. Sometimes, a team will wear the BP tops to try to shake things up. Sometimes, a team wants to wear the BP tops because they are cool.
The players definitely thought these black beauties were cool.
The 2004 Timber Rattlers were the first team to wear those jerseys and a few guys chose to wear them on baseball card day:
Those jerseys made a return for 2005:
The 2006 Rattlers kept making the Men in Black look stylish:
The 2007 team kept the tradition of style and even more players wore them on Baseball Card day!
The black BP tops made it to the final season of the affiliation with the Mariners in 2008. The players even wore them out into the community for appearances at Camp Hope:
The Black BP Tops were retired after the 2009 season. There are still three available in the Team Store. No. Really.
