Postgame Post – June 21, 2014
It was fine for the Bees up until the moment this ball gets thrown into right field by the third baseman.
Zach Quintana Pregame Interview:
Taylor Brennan is now 4-for-7 with the bases loaded. He has driven in eleven runs with the sacks full this season.
In Brian Loconsole’s previous five outings before Saturday, he had allowed two hits, two walks, and struck out twelve in 10-1/3 innings. Wisconsin got to him for three runs on five hits and a walk over 1-1/3 innings.
The Rattlers had eight hits in Saturday’s game, but their average for the month of June actually went down…to .290. Wisconsin is 14-3 in June and has outscored their opponents 101-73 in the month.
Overlooked at bats of the night: Jose Pena and Garrett Cooper with consecutive two-out singles in the top of the seventh. Pena snuck a single through to left field to keep the seventh inning alive for the Rattlers. Then, Cooper stepped in to face Loconsole. Cooper had been 0-for-2 to that point of the game with two strikeouts. He was down a couple of strikes with Pena at first base and fouled two two-strike pitches off to keep in there as he worked the count full. Then, he lined a payoff pitch hard past the first baseman for a single to send Pena to third and set up the tying run on the botched force play depicted in the photo that leads off the post.
Game time on Sunday is 2:00pm!
