Pictures of our Lucroy Opening Day Bobblehead

Individual Game Tickets for the 2015 Wisconsin Timber Rattlers season will go on sale Saturday, March 7 at 10:00am.  There will be plenty going on that day at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium from 10am to 3:00pm.

But, the team figures that the thing in which you would be most interested is the Opening Day Tickets for Sunday, April 12 vs. the Peoria Chiefs.

Because that is the day of the Jonathan Lucroy double Bobblehead All-Fan Giveaway courtesy of Appvion and Cher-Make.  I could describe what this double bobblehead looks like…or I could show you:

Bobblehead news & a roundup on the extension – December 3, 2014

Keep your eyes on @TimberRattlers at the top of each hour between now and 6pm tonight.  The team is announcing their bobblehead giveaways for the 2015 season at the top of each hour.  As of the time I started to write this post, they have announced three of the ELEVEN bobbleheads:

Correction:  Yesterday, I announced Reggie Keen’s birthday based on some research not done by me earlier this summer.  I did not doublecheck the research until after it was pointed out to me that Reggie’s birthday is actually January 13…Apologies to Reggie…I will get it right in about a month.

The Timber Rattlers and Milwaukee Brewers have announced a 4-year extension to their current Player Development Contract.  The teams are partnered through the 2020 season.

The media roundup:

Bill Scott of Wisconsin Radio Network has the story and a five minute interview with team president Rob Zerjav.

Tim Froberg of The Post-Crescent also caught up with Rob.

Second baseman Scooter Gennett, outfielder Khris Davis and pitchers Wily Peralta, Jim Henderson and Jimmy Nelson are among the current Brewers who learned the ropes of professional baseball with the Timber Rattlers.

“To have our fans talk about someone like Scooter Gennett, it’s like they knew him before he was even a Brewer,” Zerjav said. “It’s been great for fans getting to know the players a little better.

This has nothing to do with the affiliation extension, but here’s a story on Fang’s Holiday Extravaganza from FOX 11:

Kids’ Crew memberships for the 2015 season were available at the Extravaganza. They are now available online through the team store.

Alumni Birthdays for December 3:
Chris Snelling (’00) – 33
Mitch Lukevics (Player, ’76; Coach, ’84-’85) – 61
Steve Huntz (’64) – 69
Paul Knechtges (’61) – 75

Nine cards featuring players from the 1976 Foxes.

Mitch Lukevics is located in the middle of the bottom row.

Compare & Contrast: Lollybobbles

Here is the latest video from the Opening Day Bobbleheads:

Here is the original scene from Bull Durham.  I’m just going to link it because there is brief nudity at the start and some language at the end.

My mangled sentence structure and labored syntax probably already push the rating of this blog closer to a PG than a G.

The Bobbleheads:

Embedding is not quite working the way I want it to for the original clip, so click on Boombox Serenade below for Lloyd Dobler in all his glory:

In my opinion, The Sure Thing is a much better John Cusak movie than Say Anything. I would also accept Better Off Dead.  One holdout in the office prefers One Crazy Summer.  I cannot persuade this person to reconsider this heresy.

Compare & Contrast: Western Style

This week, three Opening Day Bobbleheads, recreate the three-man duel from the end of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Here is the original in all of it’s glory.

The part the bobbleheads recreate begins around 2:29 or so.

Who needs to talk to get the point across? Awesome scene!  Awesome movie!

Compare and Contrast: Miracle

The Opening Day Bobbleheads recreated the speech by Herb Brooks before the game against the Soviets.

Here is the original.

The bobbles took it from about the 1:50 mark of the original.  There was a sudden inspiration to add a certain bobblehead at the end as Craig Patrick that brought the whole thing together.

YOU were meant to be here on Opening Day.

I am ready for Opening Day now!

I am also ready to beat the Soviet Union at hockey.  Weird, eh?

I am told that there are a few more bobble-centric videos to be produced in the next few weeks.
