The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (2-1) and the Peoria Chiefs (1-2) conclude their four-game series today at 2:00 pm CDT. This post will help you get ready for the game. This link will help you realize that spring is on the way….somewhere. What I am trying to say is that it’s really, really nice in Peoria today.
Reminder: The Timber Rattlers open up a seven-game homestand on Monday. Game time against the Cedar Rapids Kernels is 6:35pm. Here is a little something to lets you know what will be happening during the first seven games at the renovated Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

April 7 in Timber Rattlers History:
1995 – The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers play their first official game under that name. Wisconsin opens the 1995 season with a 6-0 loss to the Peoria Chiefs at Meinen Field at Pete Vonachen Stadium.
1996 - The Rattlers lose to the West Michigan Whitecaps at home.
1997 - The Rattlers game at West Michigan is postponed by cold.
2000 - The Timber Rattlers game at Beloit is postponed by rain.
2001 - The Timber Rattlers are swept in a doubleheader at Beloit. The Snappers win game one 2-1 and game two 16-13.
2002 - The Timber Rattlers home opener against the Burlington Bees is postponed by snow.
2003 - The Timber Rattlers were scheduled to face Clinton at home. But, due to the field conditions after four days of snow and cold that forced the postponement of an entire series with Beloit, the Rattlers and LumberKings move an off day from April 10 to April 7.
2005 - The Timber Rattlers open the season with a 3-1 win over Peoria. Mark Lowe pitches six scoreless innings and Matt Tuiasosopo drives in a pair of runs for Wisconsin.
2006 – The Rattlers lose 3-0 to the Chiefs at home.
2007 - The game between the Rattlers and Chiefs is postponed by cold and snow.
2011 - The Timber Rattlers open their season with a 9-3 win over the Kane County Cougars at home. Nick Shaw homers and Austin Ross allows one run over six innings for the Rattlers.
2012 – The Timber Rattlers beat the Cedar Rapids Kernels 7-6 at home. The Kernels scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 6-3 lead. Wisconsin scored four times in the bottom of the ninth for their first walkoff win of the year. Chadwin Stang drove in a run with a double to start the rally. Ben McMahan tied the game with a two-run single. Parker Berberet knocked in the winning run for the Rattlers.

The 2-0 Timber Rattlers play the 0-2 Peoria Chiefs today at 1:00 pm CDT. I shouldn’t mention this for fear of those back in the Fox Cities wanting to wish harm to me….BUT…a high of 68° is forecast for Peoria today. Chance for rain later in the afternoon, too….if that makes you feel better.

April 6 in Timber Rattlers history:
1996 - The Timber Rattlers sweep a home doubleheader from the West Michigan Whitecaps. Wisconsin rallies from a 1-0 deficit to score two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to win game one 3-1. West Michigan led game two 6-0 after the top of the fifth inning. The Rattlers scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth and added one more in the sixth for an 8-6 victory in the nightcap.
1997 - The Rattlers beat West Michigan 9-5 on the road
2000 - The Rattlers lose 6-5 at Beloit in the season opener
2001 - The Rattlers win 6-3 at Beloit in the season opener
2002 - The Rattlers score seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat Beloit 9-6 in Beloit.
2003 - The fourth straight game of the home series against Beloit is postponed by snow.
2006 - Wisconsin beats Peoria 4-2 at home on Opening Night.
2007 - The Rattlers game with Peoria is postponed by cold and snow.
2008 - The Rattlers lose 6-1 at Quad Cities
2012 - Wisconsin loses 3-2 to Cedar Rapids at home.

Another great April day for baseball.
April 5 in Timber Rattlers history:
1996 - Rattlers season (and home) opener against West Michigan is postoned by inclement weather.
1997 - Rattlers lost 4-3 at West Michigan
2001 - The Rattlers season opening game at Beloit is rained out
2002 - The Rattlers lose 4-3 at Beloit
2003 – The Rattlers are still trying to open the 2003 season, but their third straight game against Beloit is snowed out at home.
2007 – Timber Rattlers lose 9-5 at home to Peoria Chiefs in the season opening game. Ryne Sandberg was the manager of the Chiefs and this game was his managerial debut. The game started with a temperature of 33° and the wind was blowing in from left field at 22 mph. Wisconsin was charged with seven errors in the game. There were 1,814 who braved the elements to see this piece of history.
2008 – Wisconsin sweeps a doubleheader at Quad Cities. The Rattlers win both games by a score of 2-0. In the first game, Phillippe Aumont tosses four no-hit innings with a walk and four strikeouts, but was not involved in the decision. In the nightcap, Donnie Hume, Travis Mortimore, and Shawn Kelley combine on a one-hit shutout. The only Quad Cities hit was a one out double by Domnit Bolivar off Hume in the fifth inning.
2012 – The Timber Rattlers start the 2012 season with a 7-2 home loss to the Cedar Rapids Kernels.

Welcome to the start of the 2013 season of Timber Rattlers baseball!
The Timber Rattlers open this year on road with a game against the Peoria Chiefs. Game time is 6:30pm. The pregame show on the radio begins at 6:10pm.

I am still working on the logistics of the This Date in Timber Rattlers history post. So, this seems like a good spot to fit it in until that gets done.
APRIL 4 – The Timber Rattlers have played just three games on April 4 in their history.
1997 – The Rattlers lose 1-0 on Opening Day at West Michigan.
2002 – The Rattlers win 3-1 on Opening Day at Beloit.
2003 – The Rattlers had their second straight home game with Beloit postponed by snow.
2008 – The Rattlers lose 4-3 at Quad Cities in a delayed Opening Day. Nathan Adcock was the starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers and allowed two unearned runs over five innings, but Quad Cities came back for the win.
