Renovation Update: Episode 18
Hilary Bauer is the new onfield host for the Timber Rattlers. She took over the tour guide duties for Renovation Update: Episode 18 while I was in Arizona for Spring Training.
The episode is below.
I did manage to get over there for a few pictures on Wednesday. Where to start….where to start???
Now, to the part of the renovations you want to see:
This old photos are a nice touch:
And now, Hilary Bauer’s debut on Renovation Update:
The State of the Field
Lots of interest in the state of Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium’s playing surface while I was in Arizona.
The groundscrew and the front office were gracious enough to wait until I returned from the desert to try an old Groundskeeper’s trick. I was over there this morning to help pull tarp.

I’ll let Telemachus the Tarping Tapir take over the post from here:

The trick is to put the tarp on the field with the dark side facing up. This allows the sun to heat the tarp and melt the snow. It is in right field for right now. Trust me. I’m the Tarping Tapir:
Mehring took this shot from the beach….The beach. That sounds so nice.
I’m not allowed on the club level, so Mehring ran up there for this ‘Eye in the Sky’ shot:
You will notice from that shot that the groundscrew was already been working on the infield using a different trick. That trick is called a snowblower. Unfortunately, I was not around to take photo or a video of the snowblower in action.
The tarp will be moved over to left field after it has done its work in right field. The temperatures in the 40s and the sun will really speed things along. You will be surprised at how well this will work. I will not be surprised because…like I said – I’m the Tarping Tapir…Now, back to Mehring.
Thanks, Telemachus.
I’ll update this post later with links to video from the various media that were at the field to record the first tarp pull of 2013.
Renovation Update: Episode 17
I just want to state that it was snowing when we shot the video and photos on Monday. At the very moment that I write this post, it is not snowing.
A little news. This is my final Renovation Update video. I will be in Arizona from March 21 through March 26. Hilary Bauer, the new onfield host for the Timber Rattlers, will be taking over for Episode 18 as we get closer and closer to completion of this project.
Some photos:

A look at the club level from the end of the third base concourse. Pay no attention to the snowflakes.

My favorite part of this picture is that piece just below the peak of the roof that is shaped like the Timber Rattler logo.
In the video this week, banquet facility, concessions, restrooms, suites, home radio booth, and ticket windows….not necessarily in that order.
Renovation Update: Episode 16
Pictures first. Video second.
And since this is where I’ll be spending the majority of my time, I will start with Home Radio:
Here is what my brothers in sound from around the MWL have in store for them:
The press box has been expanded, too:
Inside a suite on the club level:
Workers!
Yes. This photo was taken on a different day. At least the Sun was out when I took this one.
We tried some different camera movements in this video! Enjoy!
Renovation Update: Episode 15.5
I just happened to be over at the stadium today and I saw something wonderful that needed to be shared before we shot the next video update.
The tarp has been taken down from some of the upper level.
We’ll have video and more photos next week. Have a great weekend, everyone! Think Spring!
Renovation Update: Episode 15
Just like last week. Pictures first. Video second.
If you’ll indulge me, here is my new apartment…I mean, home radio booth.

Home Radio booth
This is the new bullpen area. Bullpen as in “area for office workers” not as in “place for pitchers to warm up before entering a game”.

Inside the main office.
If you look to the right when you are near the front of the stadium, you will see the new entrance to the front office.

Front office entrance.
If you look to the left from the same spot, you will see the new team store.

Team store entrance.
And here is the view from one of the upstairs camera platforms:

Panorama!
Let’s get this snow out of here!
In the meantime, here is the video:
Renovation Update: Episode 14
Renovation Update: Episode 12.99
I think that we will have video next week!
For now, photos.
Renovation Update – Episode 12.96
Why not start with the shot with the most interest? Let’s go!

This is the view you will have from the outside seats on the club level….except for the wire. That will be gone…the snow will be gone, too.
